Community midwives
A midwife is present at all ante-natal clinics and will visit mothers and babies at home for 10 days after the birth. She can be contacted via her base at Stroud Maternity Hospital on 0300 421 8018.
Community nurses
Our district nurses team provides nursing care for patients who are confined to their homes.
They can be contacted on 0300 421 6073.
Gateway nurse
We have a mental health nurse available by referral from the GP.
Health visitors
The health visitor can give advice on health care, particularly for expectant mothers, small children, the elderly and handicapped. The health visiting team can be contacted on 0300 421 8967 at their base at Stroud Maternity Hospital (we do not have a named health visitor attached to the practice).
Counsellors
Counsellors are available both on the NHS and privately. We can provide you with a list of options if you are considering private counselling. Should you wish to consider counselling via the NHS, you would need to see one of the doctors first. He/she will then refer you to the community team and they will contact you directly to arrange a suitable appointment. There is a waiting list unfortunately for NHS counselling. Please ask at reception for further details.
